Valentine’s Day: A Self-Love Holiday
February is in full swing, and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.
February 14th is about way more than celebrating the love between those in romantic relationships. It’s about cherishing your friends and family, and perhaps most importantly, it’s about having love for yourself.
Being compassionate and loving towards yourself is hard sometimes. Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat have certainly not made it any easier. We live in a digital age – where it is unfortunately too easy to compare yourself to others.
This week (and all weeks) especially, I urge you to be extra-compassionate to yourself. Do what you need to do. Turn your phone off, unplug for a bit, go on a daycation, exercise, dance, or spend time with your loved ones ~ whatever it is, make sure you make time for yourself.
It’s so easy to get caught up in the business, in working, in chores, in errands, etc. that we forget to spend the time to take care of ourselves. When I feel like I’m burnt out, I put my phone on Do Not Disturb and head straight to the studio. I blast my Bollywood Playlist through the speakers and I dance. For hours.
It’s so therapeutic for me. It helps me stay calm, brings my endorphins up, and brings me an unquantifiable amount of happiness. It’s how I take care of myself.
